The Premier League fixture originally scheduled for Friday, August 29, between Aston Villa and Crystal Palace has been rescheduled to a 7:00 PM kick-off on Sunday, August 31.
The adjustment was necessitated by Crystal Palace’s involvement in the UEFA Conference League play-off second leg against Norwegian club Fredrikstad, which takes place on Thursday, August 28.
Since the original Friday night slot was preselected as a televised standalone match, the Premier League chose the Sunday evening slot as a backup, opting against a Monday night fixture because of the impending international break.
This rescheduling ensures Palace have adequate rest and preparation time while preserving the fixture’s broadcast value.
The Sunday night kick-off slot is a newer addition used flexibly to accommodate scheduling conflicts and maintain season continuity.
Fans and stakeholders will have to adapt plans accordingly for this match that carries significant Premier League points and momentum implications early in the season.
