Latest Ryanair and easyJet mobile boarding pass rules

As families prepare for summer holidays, airlines operating out of the UK are enforcing stricter boarding pass systems and tighter check-in rules ahead of expected increases in passenger numbers.

Ryanair has moved to 100% Digital Boarding Passes since November 2025. This means all passengers will receive a DBP to their Ryanair App when they check-in online. Passengers simply need to check in online via the website or through the Ryanair App before arriving at the airport. Once checked in, the DBP will appear automatically within the Ryanair App. All travellers must download the Ryanair app and check in online with notifications sent 48 then 24-hours prior to departure. Those who don't check in online will face an airport check-in charge of £55 for most services or £30 for Spanish departures.

If a phone is lost, stolen or runs out of battery but check-in has been completed, Ryanair confirms it will provide a printed boarding pass at no cost. However, if passengers don't check-in online before arriving at the airport they will be required to pay the airport check-in fee. Passengers departing from certain Moroccan airports are still required to obtain a physical boarding pass, with the exception of those flying from Marrakech, Fez, Agadir, Tangier, Nador or Oujda where digital boarding passes on the Ryanair app can now be used.

easyJet's approach differs slightly. The majority of airports accept mobile boarding passes, though the airline has a list of destinations that won't accept digital boarding passes on its website including locations like Antalya and Izmir. The majority of these destinations are across Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia. If you're flying from an airport that doesn't currently accept mobile boarding passes, easyJet advises checking in online and printing out a paper boarding pass for your flight.
