Struggling with bad mobile reception can be frustrating, especially when trying to make an important call.
Fortunately, there's a simple solution that many people are still unaware of, despite it being a feature on most modern phones and being supported by a growing number of network providers.
The consumer group Which? revealed that by simply turning on 'Wi-Fi calling,' users can make and receive calls and texts using a Wi-Fi connection instead of their mobile network's signal.
This feature is available on most major UK networks, including O2, Three, and Vodafone, and works on iPhones from the iPhone 6 onwards, as well as on various Android handsets from brands like Google, Honor, Huawei, Motorola, Samsung, and Nokia.
The consumer group clarified that calls and texts made using this feature are charged at the same rate as those made on the mobile signal, but it does not use up any of your mobile data allowance, as long as you are connected to a free or unlimited Wi-Fi network, such as your home Wi-Fi.
While your phone should automatically switch to Wi-Fi calling when the signal is weak, Which? recommends checking if the feature is enabled and manually setting it up if necessary.
They provided a simple guide for both iPhone and Android users to activate the feature through their phone's settings.
The widespread availability and ease of use of this feature offer a practical solution for staying connected and ensuring clear communication, even in areas with notoriously poor reception.
