Foo Fighters Pack Out Anfield for Second Night of Their Take Cover Tour
Thousands of rock fans descended on Anfield Stadium on Friday night as American rock giants Foo Fighters played the second of two sold-out shows at Liverpool FC's home ground as part of their Take Cover Tour.
The band made history on Thursday 26 June with their debut performance at Anfield and returned on Friday 27 June for another night of anthems spanning their three-decade catalogue.
Frontman Dave Grohl, who famously joined Sir Paul McCartney on stage at Anfield during Liverpool's 2008 Capital of Culture celebrations, connected enthusiastically with the passionate Merseyside crowd.
Fans had travelled from across the UK and internationally for the concerts.
Helen Flanagan from St Albans, attending her tenth Foo Fighters show, said: "I love the whole vibe of the Foo Fighters — I don't care if I'm at the front or the back.
It's like a big family and it's so much fun." Karen Foozie, who made the journey all the way from San Diego having seen the band approximately 60 times, called their devoted following the "Foo family".
The Foo Fighters, formed in 1994 by Grohl following the break-up of Nirvana, have produced some of rock's most enduring anthems, including My Hero, All My Life and Best of You.
The two Anfield dates form part of a wider European stadium tour and the band are widely regarded as one of the world's premier live acts.
Their performances received rapturous responses from the capacity crowd.
