Mary’s Meals, founded by Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow in 2002, has achieved a milestone by providing daily meals to three million children across 16 countries, including South Sudan and Syria, as of September 2025.
Starting with 200 children in Malawi, the charity grew from 2.2 million in 2024, fueled by donations as low as 10p per meal.
MacFarlane-Barrow credits global support for enabling school attendance and breaking poverty cycles through education.
Initiatives like Lochlan McCole’s Kilimanjaro climb and Ellison Hudson’s 30-mile tricycle ride at 87 bolster fundraising efforts.
Despite this success, MacFarlane-Barrow emphasized the urgent need to reach 71 million out-of-school children, with hunger-related deaths a pressing concern.
The charity’s growth reflects its vital role in addressing global hunger and education disparities.
