The highly-anticipated 'The Queens 4 Legends 1 Stage' tour, featuring an unprecedented assembly of music legends Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, and Stephanie Mills, has launched its second leg in Greensboro.
This royal concert processional, produced by the Black Promoters Collective, first ran from May through June to sold-out arenas.
The tour showcases each artist with a 45-minute set on a rotating stage, delivering a nostalgic journey through their megahits, including Khan’s 'I’m Every Woman,' Knight’s 'Midnight Train to Georgia,' Mills’s 'Home,' and LaBelle’s 'Lady Marmalade.' The impact of these artists, all of whom have lengthy and influential careers, is celebrated by multiple generations of fans who appreciate their commitment to soul music and their Black audience.
Stephanie Mills, known as the 'baby' of the group at 68, originated the role of Dorothy in 'The Wiz' on Broadway 50 years ago and says there is no reason to slow down.
Similarly, Patti LaBelle, now 81, expressed gratitude for a career that has spanned six decades.
Chaka Khan, 72, who has publicly discussed her past substance abuse issues, said what she is most proud of is 'staying alive.' The tour is scheduled to conclude on October 5 in Cleveland.
Khan is also preparing a new album featuring unreleased music she recorded with Prince, while LaBelle is launching a new syrup in her popular food line.
