A gardener on social media has shared a natural method for permanently getting rid of patio and paving weeds, claiming it is more effective than the commonly recommended vinegar.
The expert, Simon Akeroyd, author of 30 gardening books, explained that while many liquids suggested by gardeners might kill the leaves, the root often survives and sends up new shoots.
He advises using boiling water, which he says kills off the entire weed by transferring heat energy to the plant cells and causing them to die.
Akeroyd stated that most weeds will be dead within 24 hours, and 'extreme pernicious weeds' might require a second or third application.
Tony O'Neil, another expert gardener behind the Simplify Gardening blog, also recommends using boiling water for weed removal.
This chemical-free approach is a popular choice for those who prefer natural gardening methods.
