Nottingham Forest are set to appoint Oliver Glasner as Vitor Pereira's replacement, with BBC Sport understanding that a deal to appoint the Austrian is virtually done with just the formalities left to complete. Contact with Glasner, who left the role as Crystal Palace manager at the end of last season, was first initiated earlier this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, Glasner will sign a three-year contract at the City Ground.

The move comes as Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis decided to sack Pereira, who was appointed in February. Pereira steered Forest to safety with two games to spare whilst guiding them to the semi-finals of the Europa League. He had 12 months remaining on his deal, though his contract included a clause allowing both parties to terminate the agreement during the month of June. Pereira became the Reds' fourth manager of the 2025-26 season when he took charge following on from Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche.

The appointment comes with the new Premier League season starting in little more than seven weeks. Glasner, a free agent after leaving Palace at the end of last season, had been on Forest's radar previously. During his just over two years in charge at Crystal Palace, Glasner won three trophies, including the club's first major trophy and the UEFA Conference League last season, along with the FA Community Shield.

TalkSPORT pundits Jamie O'Hara and Jason Cundy have agreed the move is a masterstroke by Marinakis, with O'Hara declaring it an amazing appointment. However, Crystal Palace fans have reacted negatively to the news, with Glasner joining a rival club. Despite becoming the most successful manager in Palace's history, recent history suggests Evangelos Marinakis may be less forgiving of poor form compared to his predecessor. Forest, as they have in repeated seasons, are likely to outspend Palace heading into the new campaign.
