The entertainment world was set abuzz when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement via a joint Instagram post with the playful caption, 'Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.' The post included photos of the romantic garden proposal and a close-up of Swift's stunning new engagement ring.
According to Kelce, he worked with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry to design the ring, which features a round brilliant-cut old mine diamond bezel-set in yellow gold.
While specific details have been kept private, several jewelry experts have weighed in on its potential specs and value.
Rich Goldberg of Beverly Hills-based Rich Gems estimated the center diamond to be an elongated cushion cut of approximately five to six carats, set in a yellow gold band that tapers down with possible engraving and small inlaid gemstones, giving it a timeless vintage look.
Steven Singer, with Steven Singer Jewelers, was more specific, predicting a 7.5-carat stone set in an antique decorative reproduction setting, likely worth between $1.5 to $2 million at retail, though he noted his company could have created it for around $1 million.
Other experts, including Laura Taylor and Nilesh Rakholia, concurred with the approximate $1 million valuation, depending on the diamond's color, clarity, and cut.
Singer also noted that the ring's yellow gold and retro aesthetic are perfectly aligned with current trends, which are seeing a resurgence of 70s and 80s styles, and he expects Swift's ring will influence engagement ring trends significantly.
