NS&I urges Premium Bonds holders to log onto their accounts on Thursday

National Savings and Investments is urging Premium Bonds holders to check their accounts on Thursday, July 2, as the organisation confirms the winners of its monthly prize draw. The announcement follows the revelation of two £1 million jackpot winners on Wednesday, July 1.

The first £1 million winner is from Reading and holds £49,931 in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond number is 250TP871786, which was purchased in July 2015. This marks the second jackpot winner from Reading. The second £1 million winner is from Warwickshire and has £14,000 invested in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond number is 217AV429216, purchased in January 2014, making them the tenth person to win the £1 million jackpot in Warwickshire.

Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, said: "Agent Million has delivered some life-changing news to two Premium Bonds holders in Reading and Warwickshire this July." The announcement comes as part of the July prize draw, which saw ERNIE, the random-number generator, distribute over six million tax-free prizes totalling £433 million. This represents approximately £57 million more than the previous month, thanks to an increase in the prize fund rate for July.

In total, 6,226,179 tax-free prizes will be paid to Premium Bonds holders this month. The July draw involved 136,975,958,547 individual £1 bonds eligible for selection. Since the first draw in June 1957, NS&I has paid out prizes totalling £845 million with a value of £42 billion.

Bond holders can check their prizes using the Premium Bonds prize checker app, the NS&I website, or by asking Alexa. Those using the website will need their Premium Bonds holder's number, whilst app users can alternatively use their NS&I number. Winners will receive notifications via their preferred method if they have registered their contact details with NS&I.
