Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni - and England star who narrowly missed out on World Cup squad - remain high on Man Utd transfer wishlist

Manchester United are pursuing an ambitious midfield rebuild with Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni and Bournemouth's Alex Scott as top targets.
Tchouameni and Scott remain at the top of United's wishlist as the club looks to strengthen its midfield. However, securing either player faces considerable obstacles, particularly with Bournemouth making clear they have no intention of sanctioning a sale for their prize asset this summer.
Scott, a highly rated midfielder who narrowly missed out on Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the 2026 World Cup, has already attracted a firm rebuff from the South Coast club. Bournemouth are currently working on a new contract for Scott in an attempt to ward off interest from Premier League heavyweights. The club are adamant they do not want to lose any core players as they build on a promising season. United however view the youngster as a long-term solution to their midfield depth issues.
Should a deal for Tchouameni prove too difficult, United have designated Scott as a priority alternative. The club have compiled a diverse shortlist of backup options should neither player become available.
Alternative targets being considered include Felix Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund, Sander Berge from Fulham, and Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille. The 18-year-old French-born Moroccan has been a revelation for Morocco and is currently preparing for a round-of-16 clash against Canada, with United officials believed to have made further checks on the teenager.
Despite maintaining interest in Manchester City captain Rodri, United acknowledge that City are determined to keep their captain and want him to sign a new contract. The club have also been monitoring other areas of their squad with talks ongoing regarding potential signings across multiple positions.
