Daughter, 3, heartbroken as Brit dad dies on Turkey holiday as family left with huge bill

A three-year-old girl has been left without her dad after David Hartley, 28, from Gateshead died in his sleep while on holiday in Turkey. He tragically never woke up after going to sleep during the trip to Antalya, where he had arrived on June 25.
His family revealed that David had sleep apnoea and a heart condition. With the sudden and unexpected nature of his death, David had no travel insurance, leaving his loved ones facing a devastating financial burden. The family is now desperately trying to raise enough money to bring him back to the UK so he can be laid to rest.
The cost of body repatriation typically ranges from £3,000 to £6,000, though costs may be higher for more distant locations. A fundraising appeal was launched by his cousin Megan to help cover these expenses.
The response has been overwhelming. In just one day, almost £8,000 was donated, with the total eventually reaching over £9,000. Megan said: "He was only 28 years old and leaves behind his beautiful three-year-old daughter along with a heartbroken family and so many friends who loved him dearly. This is an unimaginable loss for our family."
The family's grief has been compounded by recent losses. Megan added: "In the space of just three years we have lost David's grandma, his mum and now David himself. Our hearts are completely broken."
Following the generous response from well-wishers, Megan expressed her gratitude: "We are absolutely overwhelmed. In just one day almost £8,000 has been raised for David. We truly cannot believe the kindness, generosity and support that has been shown. This incredible support is making such a huge difference. From the bottom of our hearts thank you. Our family will be forever grateful for the love, compassion and generosity of you all."
