The Labour government is considering significant reforms to the interpretation of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) to strengthen their ability to deport individuals with no right to remain in the UK.
Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed the government was looking at how they could 'tighten the interpretation and application' of the convention, particularly regarding Article 8 protecting the right to a family life.
