Attempted murder arrest as car hits pedestrians in Ealing Broadway injuring 5

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following an incident in which a vehicle struck five pedestrians outside a busy shopping centre in Ealing, west London. Timir Ahmed Mohamed was charged on Sunday with five counts of attempted murder as well as dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, and criminal damage.
The collision occurred outside Marks and Spencer on The Broadway at approximately 2.30pm on Saturday 27 June. Two pedestrians were treated at the scene while three others were taken to hospital, including one person who was rushed to a major trauma centre as a priority. According to the Metropolitan Police, none of the casualties suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries.
The vehicle involved did not stop at the scene but was intercepted in nearby Grange Park shortly afterwards. Mohamed, a Somalia-born British man, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates Court on Monday.
Counter-Terrorism Policing London conducted initial inquiries into the incident, though officers confirmed it is not being treated as a terrorist attack. Police were called at 2.29pm and a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said they sent multiple resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew, and an incident response officer. London's Air Ambulance was also dispatched.
The Broadway remains closed between High Street and Spring Bridge Road as the police investigation continues. Road closures could remain in place for some time.
Alexander Stafford, a former councillor for Ealing Broadway who represented the area between 2014 and 2021, described the aftermath of the crash as absolutely horrific. He posted on X: "Absolutely horrific news from Ealing Broadway - as a councillor I used to represent this area and used to work in that very M&S. Praying for a speedy recovery for all the injured."
