Red Bull is undertaking a challenging new project to develop its own Formula 1 engine for the 2026 season in partnership with American automotive giant Ford.
Team principal Francois Mekies described the initiative as 'crazy' and likened it to climbing Everest, acknowledging the difficulty posed by established rivals Mercedes and Ferrari, with their decades-long expertise.
The power unit development is being conducted at Milton Keynes under a high-intensity schedule, with expectations of long nights and relentless effort.
The project began over two years ago, and Red Bull remains realistic about positioning, aiming to compete at the highest level, supported by recently confirmed driver Max Verstappen's contract extension.
