Police have arrested a 30-year-old woman from Netherton on suspicion of murder and she remains in custody.
At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing to determine the full circumstances of what happened, a police spokesperson said. Forensic officers were seen going in and out of a building at the corner of the close on the road with detectives also present as the investigation continued.
Detective Inspector Sara Lang said: "Our thoughts at this time are with the family of the woman who has sadly passed way. As this matter is clearly in the very early stages we would ask people to avoid speculating and allow us to carry out our enquiries."
She added: "Although we have arrested a person in connection with the investigation we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward."
