A woman in her 20s was struck by a silver hatchback in a hit-and-run incident on Foxton Road in Birmingham on Monday 29 June. The collision occurred just before 1:30pm as the pedestrian was crossing the road. The impact sent her over the bonnet and onto the roadway, with witnesses watching helplessly as the motorist drove away without stopping to assist the victim.

Ambulance crews attended the scene and treated the woman for serious injuries. She was subsequently conveyed to Heartlands Hospital for further treatment. The woman's injuries are understood not to be life-changing, though she was treated for potentially serious injuries at the scene.

West Midlands Police have launched an appeal to track down the driver and vehicle involved. In a statement, the force said: "We were called after a woman was struck by a car in Foxton Road Birmingham at just before 1:30pm on Monday 29 June. Officers attended and the woman in her 20s was treated by ambulance staff for injuries which are understood not to be life-changing. The car involved believed to be a silver hatchback failed to stop and enquiries are underway to identify and trace the vehicle and driver."

Members of the public with information are urged to contact West Midlands Police on 101 or message via Live Chat on their website, quoting log 2851.

This incident comes amid ongoing concerns about road safety on Foxton Road. A three-year-old child was struck on the same road on 8 April. In response to dangerous driving in the area, Zaheer Akbar from Alum Rock Community Forum and a local PCSO are in the process of setting up a Speed Watch to combat dangerous driving in the area.
