McLaren driver Lando Norris has praised Max Verstappen's consistent brilliance, stating it is 'almost impossible' for any driver to reach his level.
Norris asserted that Verstappen, a four-time world champion, is so consistently excellent that he operates 'at 100 per cent' on a good day and 'at 99 per cent' even when he has a bad one.
Norris attributed some of Verstappen's success to his background, noting that he was 'born into Formula One' as both his parents, Jos Verstappen and Sophie Kumpen, were racing drivers.
Norris contrasted this with his own journey, suggesting he would be a better driver now if he had been 'made to be in the position he is now' and had the same early testing advantages.
Despite his praise, Norris trails championship leader Oscar Piastri by 69 points with seven rounds remaining.
Addressing criticism of his own recent performance in Azerbaijan, where he struggled after his teammate crashed out, Norris maintained he is 'not too bothered' by social media or press opinion.
