An Albanian national, Valentin Roci, 27, has been ordered to be deported for a second time after being caught dealing drugs in Southend, Essex.
Roci told Basildon Crown Court that he had re-entered the UK on a dinghy after being arrested and deported in 2024 for a similar offense.
He claimed that he was forced to deal drugs to pay off a £4,000 debt to the smuggling gang that brought him into the country.
However, Judge Shane Collery KC did not believe his story, citing his previous drug-related arrest and stating that it seemed like he was 'doing this for money frankly.' Police had intercepted a Ford Mondeo with a missing brake light, with Roci behind the wheel.
Upon searching him, they found £1,195 in cash, eight wraps of cocaine, and one wrap of cannabis.
Roci pleaded guilty to several charges, including possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possessing criminal property.
The judge noted that Roci's return to the UK so soon after his first deportation suggested a 'strong economic reason' for his presence.
He sentenced Roci to 30 months in prison and recommended his deportation after he serves his sentence, stating that his presence was 'not conducive to the public good.' The judge also ordered that the £1,195 seized from Roci be donated to the Essex Community Foundation and the car he was driving be kept by the police.
