The storm has broken records, with a wind gust of 96mph recorded in Tiree and a provisionally lowest ever October pressure recorded at a UK land station in Baltasound.
The disruption is set to continue, with an amber warning issued for the north of Scotland, where damaging winds are forecast to exceed 90mph, and a yellow wind alert remaining in place across the entire UK.
Separately, Gatwick Airport reported 153 delayed flights on Saturday due to the high winds.
