Princess Anne made an unpublicized visit to Kyiv at the Foreign Office’s request, focusing on the traumatic impact of Russia’s invasion on Ukrainian children.
At the Children’s Memorial, she placed a teddy—matching one her daughter owned—alongside First Lady Olena Zelenska, who appeared emotional.
The memorial commemorates over 650 children killed since 2022.
Anne met President Volodymyr Zelensky, delivering a sealed letter likely from King Charles, and discussed UK support for Ukraine’s resistance.
Arriving by train, she wore a pin blending Union and Ukrainian flags.
Her visit included St Sofia’s Cathedral, a UNESCO site in danger, and meetings with female police and military personnel, as well as the Child Rights Protection Centre, addressing the return of over 19,500 forcibly deported Ukrainian children.
Anne also visited a rehabilitation centre for veterans and viewed a Kherson exhibition, symbolizing Ukraine’s resilience.
The trip, following a deadly Russian bombardment, underscores UK solidarity, as echoed by King Charles and the Duchess of Edinburgh’s prior visit.
