Motorists across the South West experienced heavy rush-hour delays this morning following two separate traffic collisions that snarled major routes.
There was significant queueing traffic on the A38 near the Tamar Bridge due to an accident in St Budeaux.
The traffic and travel monitoring system Inrix reported that the eastbound lane was partially blocked before Pemros Road.
Despite the disruption, reports indicated that traffic was beginning to ease following the earlier accident.
Further north, a reported two-vehicle crash caused substantial delays on a major A-road in Gloucester.
Drivers faced heavy traffic near the Elmbridge Court roundabout, affecting both the A417 and the A40.
Roads and traffic monitoring site Inrix first reported the crash at 8.16am.
The incident affected multiple roads, with reports of usual slow traffic also noted elsewhere in the county, including on the A46 Shurdington Road in Cheltenham and Llanthony Road in Gloucester.
Travel time estimates saw delays of 15 minutes on the A40 heading towards Gloucester between Highnam and the Over Roundabout, and ten minutes on the A417 Northbound from Birdlip down hill to the A436 Air Balloon Roundabout.
Drivers were warned of delays on multiple roads as a result of the morning's initial crash.
