Coventry forecast for this week as temperatures set to soar and health alert issued

Coventry is braced for a week of escalating heat as temperatures are forecast to soar, with Friday potentially reaching 33C, prompting the UK Health Security Agency to issue a yellow heat health alert for the region.
The alert, which came into force at 12pm on Saturday July 4 and will remain in place until Saturday July 11 at 8pm, indicates that while the impact of the heat will be mild compared to the ferocious heatwave of a few weeks ago, residents should still be aware of potential risks.
The forecast shows temperatures climbing through the week, starting at 30C on Monday, dropping to 28C on Tuesday before rising again to 31C on Wednesday and 32C on Thursday. Friday will mark the peak of the heat when temperatures could reach as high as 33C. The good news for residents is that overnight temperatures will remain moderate, ranging between 15C and 18C, meaning tropical nights where the temperature does not get below 20C are unlikely.
Weather conditions are expected to remain predominantly dry and sunny throughout the week, with only a small regional risk of thunderstorms, though no formal warnings have been issued.
The UK Health Security Agency has warned that the heat will bring minor impacts across health and social care services locally, with particular risks identified for vulnerable people. Indoor environments may become very warm, and there may be increased demand on health services from vulnerable populations.
Additionally, water-related incidents may increase, including risks from cold water shock and drowning. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service has advised residents to take care in the sun, being especially careful with barbecues, cigarettes and other things that could start fires. The service urged people to consider postponing bonfires and instead take waste to local disposal sites.
Light winds are expected throughout the week, and conditions should remain warm into the evenings despite the hot daytime temperatures.
