Suspect named after Ilkeston stabbing leaves man in 'critical condition'

A man has been charged and named in connection with a stabbing in Ilkeston that has left another man in a critical condition in hospital. Luke Hurdowar, aged 29 and of no fixed address, has been charged with section 18 wounding and possession of an offensive weapon in relation to the incident.
The stabbing occurred on Cotmanhay Road at around 12pm on Friday June 26. The victim, a man, was found at the scene with serious injuries and was immediately taken to hospital for emergency treatment. He remains in hospital in a critical condition as a direct result of the serious injuries he sustained in the attack.
Following the incident, Hurdowar was arrested and has been remanded in custody pending his court appearance. He is scheduled to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates on Monday June 29 to answer the charges that have been brought against him.
A 26-year-old woman was also arrested in connection with the stabbing incident. She has been released on bail pending further inquiries as police continue their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Derbyshire Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing or who has any information about the incident to come forward. Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has dashcam footage or CCTV recordings from cameras in the Cotmanhay Road area around the time of the attack on Friday morning.
