Controversial British-American social media personality Andrew Tate is not in talks to compete on a Misfits Boxing event, according to understanding from BBC Sport.
This clarification comes after reports surfaced claiming that Tate was in advanced negotiations for a potential bout later this year, with an announcement possibly slated for an upcoming Misfits show.
However, sources close to DAZN, the broadcaster of Misfits Boxing, told BBC Sport that no such talks are taking place and that no announcement involving Tate is planned for the weekend.
Misfits Boxing, co-founded by YouTuber and fighter KSI, specializes in staging crossover events that feature both professional fighters and internet personalities.
Tate, a four-time world kickboxing champion, has a significant combat sports background, which fueled the speculation.
However, the 38-year-old is facing severe legal challenges worldwide.
In the UK, four women are suing him over allegations of sexual violence.
In Romania, he and his brother Tristan are facing charges of human trafficking, trafficking of minors, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women, while Andrew Tate also faces separate allegations of rape.
They are also under criminal investigation in the U.S.
state of Florida.
Tate has denied all the allegations.
Despite his legal troubles, reports had suggested that event organizers saw value in his massive public profile, especially after he was recently a guest at UFC 313 and a Power Slap event in the US, where he was greeted by UFC CEO Dana White.
