Derby County are being linked with a potential January move for Brighton winger Tommy Watson, with Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie endorsing the transfer as an ideal fit.
The 10 million-rated player, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland, helped the Black Cats secure promotion to the Premier League and has already scored for Brighton in a 6-0 League Cup victory over Oxford this season.
Watson could be heading out on loan again in the New Year, with Preston also reportedly interested.
However, Hendrie believes Derby would be his best destination, stating that Watson needs games and suggesting the Rams offer the perfect environment for his development.
The pundit highlighted Derby's experienced squad, noting they are one of the oldest in the league, and believes manager John Eustace would take Watson under his wing whilst providing him with something different.
Derby are expected to review their squad in January, with attacking width identified as a position requiring strengthening.
The club currently lacks genuine pace on the flanks, making Watson an attractive prospect.
The question remains whether Derby need a winger in January, but the links to Watson indicate the club's intention to address this area when the transfer window reopens.
