Brother of TV star Caroline Flack dies
Paul Flack, the brother of television presenter Caroline Flack, has died at the age of 55. He was found unresponsive at his home in Norwich on June 21 and later pronounced dead at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Paul, a graphic designer and artist, is survived by his partner and their two children.
The news comes six years after his younger sister Caroline, a former Love Island and X Factor host, took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40. Caroline was one of Britain's best-known television presenters, having hosted shows including The Xtra Factor, Love Island, and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, and winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
An inquest into Paul's death was opened at Norfolk Coroner's Court on June 29. Coroner Yvonne Blake stated that further enquiries would be necessary before the full circumstances surrounding his death could be established. A full inquest is scheduled for October 23. A provisional post-mortem examination determined that Paul's cause of death was cardiac arrest caused by hanging.
Paul's final Instagram post, made in August 2020 following his sister's death, remains a tribute to Caroline. Alongside a childhood photograph, he wrote: "This will be my last post here May those who know feel shame for eternity Love you Caroline."
Caroline's death sparked a national conversation about mental health and social media abuse. She took her own life after learning that prosecutors intended to proceed with an assault charge following an incident with her boyfriend, tennis player Lewis Burton.
Paul appeared alongside his mother Christine and sisters in the 2021 documentary Caroline Flack Her Life and Death, which explored the presenter's life and impact on those closest to her. He also featured in the November 2025 Disney Plus documentary Caroline Flack Search for the Truth.
The organisers of Flackstock, a festival promoting mental health awareness in Caroline's memory, said they were "beyond heartbroken" by Paul's death. They described him as "funny, kind and loving," saying "He gave the best hugs and had the most brilliant laugh. We will miss him so much."
