Emmerdale viewers are convinced that newcomer Serena Sugden harbours a hidden connection to Dr Caitlin Todd, with fans speculating she may be orchestrating the villain's downfall.

Serena, portrayed by Casey Al-Shaqsy, arrived in the village last week and quickly formed a bond with Charity Dingle after finding her in distress by the lake. She reconnected with cousin Robert Sugden and became a trusted confidante to Charity, who confided details about Dr Todd's recent extortion and blackmail.

Soap watchers have begun theorising that Serena's arrival is far from coincidental. Viewers are convinced the latest Sugden may already be acquainted with Dr Todd and could be orchestrating her vengeance in private.

One fan posted on a Facebook page: "Reading about possible future plot lines and the possibility that Todd will be murdered I wonder if the mysterious Serena Sugden could be part of Todd's past Could she be a person holding a grudge?"

Another speculated: "Serena could be the one that brings Dr Todd down. I don't think Todd gets murdered if they carry on the storyline. Maybe Todd abused Serena as well so there's enough evidence to bring her down and prove what she is."
