Who killed Dr Todd in Emmerdale? Fans 'work out' culprit and it's not Mack or Charity

Emmerdale viewers have been left furious after Dr Caitlin Todd, played by Caroline Harker, was killed off in Wednesday night's episode. The character, who had become a major antagonist in the soap, was found dead in a pool of blood in scenes that have sparked significant backlash from fans.

Dr Todd's storyline centred on her manipulation and abuse of multiple characters. She bullied trainee doctor Jacob Sugden, forcing him to nearly leave his position before she went into early retirement. She subsequently blackmailed Charity Dingle after discovering that baby Leyla was not Sarah and Jacob's biological child. The situation escalated when Todd sexually assaulted a drunken Charity, an incident that was never properly prosecuted due to lack of evidence.

After Charity confessed everything to her partner Mackenzie Boyd, Mack travelled to Sheffield to confront Dr Todd. During their encounter, Mack made a threatening statement, saying "Would we call it winning if you stopped breathing. If you ever come near Charity again I will bury you." Todd was subsequently found dead, turning the storyline into a whodunnit mystery.

Fans have expressed outrage at the decision to kill off the villain rather than hold her accountable through the justice system. One viewer wrote on social media: "I just had a feeling that Emmerdale was gonna kill Dr Todd off and here we are. Charity deserves justice unfortunately now it's not gonna happen." Another commented: "If you're brave enough to tell a female-on-female sexual assault story be brave enough to show the abuser facing justice. Killing them off isn't accountability."

Critics argue that by turning the storyline into a murder mystery, the soap has undermined the serious issue of sexual assault awareness. Dr Todd is now the fourth person murdered in the village this year, following John Sugden, Ray Walters, and Celia Daniels.
